Land's Sake Farm Picnic re-cap
An absolutely perfect early autumn afternoon, a picturesque local farm, and delicious food highlighting the freshest local ingredients - Slow Food at its' best!
On Saturday, September 29th, we held a great event at Land's Sake Farm in Weston. About 40 people gathered in a small clearing on the farm's property to learn more about Land's Sake work and mission and, of course, to eat! Grey Lee, Land's Sake's Executive Director, kicked off the afternoon with a brief, informative walk around the farm. Then Michael Ehlenfeldt, Chef and General Manager of Stone Hearth Pizza, grilled up delicious individual pizzas topped with an array of vegetables grown right at Land's Sake and harvested just a day or two before along with fresh mozzarella made by Fiore di Nonno's Lourdes Smith. Attendees gathered at picnic benches and on blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the fresh lunch and mingle with each other in the warm afternoon sun. The meal wrapped up with naturally sweet freshly grilled apples from Stillman's Farm. Thanks to all of those who came; we hope everyone had as great a time as we did! We look forward to seeing you all at more Slow Food Boston events in the future.
We'd also like to acknowledge all of the people and organizations/businesses that made the afternoon possible, thanks to their generous donations of both time and products:
